rpa 2 — (Top) Models display a Benarsi silk and printed cotton sari by designer Rajesh Pratap Singh. The well-known designer mentioned that the special selection of weaved saris presented at Ekaya were specially crafted for the upcoming festive season. He used natural dyes and organic handwoven fabrics such as Chanderi, silks and cottons to cater to the needs and tastes of the modern Indian woman. Whereas, Bharat Shah, owner of Ekaya, mentioned his association with the designer and said, “It is an enriching partnership for us. Rajesh’s use of colours reflect the true spirit of the vivacious Indian festive mood. We have always supported Indian designers who promote Indian crafts and RPS is one of the best in this field in current times.”

rps — (Clockwise from top) The recent sari collection by RPS highlighted some very popular Indian crafts such as Ikat weaves in strong geometric motifs, Ajrak prints on cotton silk Chanderis. The Chanderi weaves with motifs on the pallu were created using a process called “embroidery on the loom”. The beautiful motifs in heart shapes, roaring lion over gold embroidery and bright floral tassels are surely noteworthy.
