Like food and music, beauty happens to be a very personal and subjective emotion. My idea of beauty shaped somewhere in the 90s when I first saw a glistening Lisa Ray emerging out of desert dunes as famous Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sang ‘Afreen Afreen’ to praise the beautiful damsel. There was something so raw and pure about that idea of beauty that it stayed with me for a long time (a lot of you would agree on that). Till today I consider the ideal beauty to be without any photo brush and pancake add-ons, and I believe to achieve that natural glow, Ayurveda has a lot to contribute.
I recently came across an array of beauty product range for Spring Summer 2021 by NeoVeda, which is an Indian beauty brand especially curated by the Craft House, The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa. The good thing about this beauty range is that they are made of natural, fresh, and pure ingredients and essential oils. These beauty items are PETA-certified cruelty-free and designed to balance 3 Bio Energies known as Vatta, Pitta and Kapha in Ayurveda. The formulations are absolutely skin-friendly and made without using parabens and harmful chemicals like sulphate, silicone, mineral oil, Trethanolamine, and Phenoxyethanol.
The three products that I loved using are — Face Cleanse Turmeric & Gotu Kola Walnut Scrub (INR 600 for 100 ml), Face Firm Sandalwood & Saffron Cream (INR 800 for 100 ml), and Boost Lemon Oil (INR 400 for 10ml). Some of the good changes that I noticed after using it for almost two weeks are supple and acne-free skin with a powerful hydrating effect. The face cream is ideal for mature and dry skin, especially with the change in season. While the lemon essential oil happens to be my favourite as it uplifts and energizes by improving mood on a hot summer day.
