In Delhi, any season is a good season to play golf; however, the spring lush and easy breezy March mornings are surely the best time to enjoy this sport. Recently, Turkish Airlines (*voted as the Best Airline in Europe according to 2015 Skytrax survey) organised the fourth edition of World Golf Cup in India, at the Classic Golf & Country Club, ITC Grand Bharat. The 100 qualifiers for this global event featured top-notch corporate, women golfers and amateur players from the capital. The players bonded over good food and Turkish music after the winners were declared by the judges. Ravi Burman, Director ,Urgent Care Hospital won the individual competition with 45 points and progresses to the Grand Final in Antalya, Turkey (to be held in October and November this year).
At this fancy tournament, a special Sunday brunch was also organized for the guests to give them a taste of the Turkish hospitality. A meal specially designed by the in-flight chef Cagatay Sadic, was the highlight for the food lovers. The chicken shawarma, chick pea humus and Turkey’s traditional sweet baklava were highly appreciated by the foodies, who were present to sample the lavish menu.
We spoke to Ozer Guler, General Manager for Turkish Airlines, North and East, India, about this initiative for promoting corporate sports by the Turkish Airlines, and here’s what he had to say about promoting sports. “We are here to get together with our global partners, and for us it’s another way to reach out to the corporate travellers as businessmen also talk work while playing. Golf is considered to be a business sport and we promote it from many years now. We also do sponsorships for football and we are one of the title sponsors of the European Football League. Apart from that we also sponsor basketball which is called the Euro League. So we do support a lot of sports across the world.”
