Spring Summer 16 line by UCB

Italian high-street fashion brand United Colors of Benetton, recently launched its Sping/Summer 16 line and showcased some really fun trends for upcoming season. We loved the quirky tropical prints like pineapple, bananas along with the mix of stripes and monochrome geometric prints that were used with a predominant pastel colour palette. Meera Saxena, Creative Director at Benetton India, in an exclusive chat with Miss Junebug, tells us why the S/S line by UCB promises to create happy wardrobe memories for us this summer.
Meera mentions, “We are a global brand and our strength is our colour play. Though this year our Spring/Summer line is created around pastel colour palette, we tune the colours in a way that it suits the skin tones of our Indian consumers. Moreover, we use our colours in a way that it looks vibrant yet remains subtle. We pair the colors with secondary colours so that it doesn’t look too bright and balance it with neutrals. When it comes to prints, so we know that the customers in India love vibrant prints and statement pieces so as a brand we are about essential pieces but we offer them as additional pieces to mix and match. For example, one can match geometrical print top with a solid bottom.”
“UCB is known for its Italian heritage and our knit wear so want to keep it intact. When we customize our fabrics for the Indian market we use lighter fabrics, so we have jersey and natural yarns that suit the summer. This time we also have a light-weight hydrous yarn that we have used for this line as it is very light and wearable for Indian summers. We have used a lot of cotton and linen fabrics too, and we have pushed ourselves towards a lot of striking prints,” she concludes.
Here are our top three looks for women and men that were our favourite highlight from this collection, check it out!
